Imagine the wilderness at night—just you and your husky pack, dashing through the forest and, if you’re lucky, under a starry sky lit by magical auroras.
Aurora hunting from a husky sleigh is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Our expert musher will lead you through the Arctic pine forest, where you can admire the changing wilderness scenery and the northern night sky from the comfort of your sled. On a clear night, the stars will guide your way, and with a bit of luck, you’ll catch a glimpse of the magical Aurora Borealis dancing above you. This tour is perfect for those who want to combine a longer husky adventure with the excitement of aurora hunting.
Owned and expertly cared for by our head musher, our dogs are purebred Siberian Huskies – some even with racing experience. Unlike mixed-breed Alaskan Huskies, they are prized for their endurance, striking appearance, and thick coats adapted for the Arctic environment. SELF-DRIVE
- This is a self-drive experience, giving you the chance to step into the role of a musher and drive the sled yourself. You are responsible for controlling your dog team and sled at all times. Driving a husky sled can be physically demanding, so if you feel unsure about driving and would prefer to enjoy the scenery as a passenger with a professional driver, please reach out to us in advance so we can make the arrangements (subject to an extra fee of 100€). Your safety and the well-being of our dogs are our top priorities.

Please note
- Please wear warm clothing. We provide additional gear for extra protection, but it’s best to dress warmly.
- If you are not a hotel guest and do not need a pick-up service, please be at Star Arctic Hotel Reception 10-15 minutes before the activity starts.
- The route and exact duration may vary according to weather conditions and the number of participants.
- The tour duration includes a car transfer to the husky kennel, and the husky safaris depart and finish at our Wilderness Center.
- Taking pictures while driving the husky sled is prohibited. Only the passenger in the sled can take photos.
- The northern lights are a natural phenomenon and can be unpredictable. Our evening safaris offer a chance to witness them, but we cannot guarantee their appearance.
- All husky safaris are self-driven with 1 adult driving the sleigh and 1 person sitting on the sleigh. Driver can be changed during the experience but minors are not allowed to drive the sleigh.
- Parents with young children should consider whether their child can sit comfortably in the sled for approximately one hour in winter conditions. Please note that once on the trail, there are no shortcuts back to the kennel.
- If you are physically unable to drive the husky sled (due to health issues or strength), please inform us in advance. A driver can be arranged for an additional fee, subject to availability.
- Driving under the influence of alcohol, narcotics, or medication is not permitted.
- This experience is not suitable for pregnant people.
Terms & Conditions
- All weekly excursions must be booked at least 24 hours in advance before the starting time.
- All excursions are non-refundable and non-changeable inside 7 days before the starting time. We will charge a cancellation fee of 100% if the booking is cancelled 7 days or less before the event.
- Liability for damages: The driver of a husky sleigh is responsible for any damages caused to the huskies, sleighs or other individuals. The self-liability amount for any accident is €2000 per case.
- Star Arctic Activities reserves the right to make changes to the excursions without prior notice and the right to stop the excursions due to sudden change of weather conditions, by the dangerous behaviour of any participant or any other conditions cause by force majeure.
